Littlest Pet Shop Fairies

October 8, 2024.

LPS Fairies were introduced during Generation 4 of the brand. While LPS often flirted with the fantastic, presenting their little animal characters with bright colors and exaggerated features, the Fairies were a new level of surreal. The creatures are animal-like, but don't represent any particular species.

This blue fairy is my favorite. It has adorable pink pigtails tied at the top of its head by gold glittery ties, and a tuft at the end of its long tail. It has big bat ears at the sides of its face. It has tiny orange wings with blue spots. It's a funny little creature. Its little front paws are adorable.

This pink fairy is hamster-like. The thing has a squat posture and drags its belly on the ground. Its wingspan is wider than it is tall. It has tiny ears, dwarfed by its big round head, that I can only describe at goblin-like. Atop its head is a curly white dollop of hair. It has a weird purple tail that looks like a bunch of grapes.

The orange fairy reminds me of a goat, maybe-- but it does seem to have little toes! It has pale blue wings and curly purple pigtails tied up in yellow ribbons. It's the most glittery of the fairies presented.

The final fairy is a little dandelion lion! So adorable! It's pale yellow, with pink wings. It has long, tufted antennae sticking out of the top of its mane .
It is nice to see more original creature designs coming from the brand, while retaining the appealing style of this generation of LPS. The fairies are an adorable and interesting chapter in LPS' story.
