My Little Creature

July 20, 2023.

My Little Creature was made in 2022. This sculpture is made out of paperclay, and MLP hair, painted with gouache, and sealed with varnish. It's a nudibranch-like creature haired with excess pony hair from some project in the past. To add the hair, the head and body were made separately and attached after the hair was plugged and glued in.


My first foolish mistake was using gouache and not acrylic paint to paint it, as the varnish smeared a lot of the detail (it has to be cut with water). I'm also not entirely happy with the seamline connecting the head and body. In future projects, I'll have to allow space to work on attaching the neck. Even if it's a bit messy, it's a cute and weird creature that I had fun making.

My Little Creature Update

August 30, 2025.

The Creature was updated today with a quick paintover to make its features more opaque.

Some of the hair fell out and had to be glued back in. Disastrous. Glue went everywhere. I think in the future, I will just avoid touching its hair.
