Decora Girls Mini Doll

May 11, 2024.

Decora Girlz is a new (2024) line of fashion dolls featuring cute characters wearing outfits inspired by Japanese decora fashion. The series so far includes a line of 4 10 inch fashion dolls with cloth outfits, and a series of mini dolls packaged in blind boxes. A vinyl carrying case for the dolls is also included in the lineup, in which a variant doll of the character, "Decora," is packaged. All the mini dolls come with stickers used to decorate their clothes and hair.

Back in March, I was able to pick up a blind box at the toy store FAO Schwarz, which carried them first. The store had built a display for the new series, featuring all the new toys, and employees dressed up as the characters from the series. It was a fun experience to see such a hubbub about the brand new doll line. The store also had huge cardboard cutouts of the dolls in the display windows that were visible from the street. The dolls are now available at Walmart stores (where they are a bit cheaper!).

The doll I received was Kat, who has big, curly, blue hair and dark skin. She has a pink leopard print plastic dress on, made from some rubbery-feeling material. She has an accessory that seems to be some kind of clutch with a kitty cat emblem. She has a cute pink headband with cat ears. The doll also comes with a clear plastic stand that clips around the back of her neck so she can stand up.
I really like this doll! Every single one of the characters looks cute to me. I could see kids having a lot of fun with the stickers the doll comes with, which offer quite a bit of customizability. I like the small size of them, and I think the proportions of the dolls are cute. Some online report that they find their dolls' faces to be a bit offputting, but in my opinion, they are cute and unique. The quality of the hair material is also quite nice-- it is very soft and the colors are vibrant. The stickers do seem to have a bit of a hard time sticking to it, but I would prefer having the nice fiber over something that might be easier to adhere to. It would be nice to see different clothing molds in the future, as I noticed a few of the characters share the same dresses, and their clutches and shoes are shared between all the characters. Overall, I like the size, quality, and character designs. They are very cute, and fun to play with and display.
