Here's another 3" G5 pony! This time it is the unicorn, Izzy Moonbow.
I bought her brand-new at Target for $9 after seeing a picture of her online with a skateboard. She does not have a skateboard.
The box is pretty standard fare, with movie Izzy's threatening face peering at you from the shelf. She looks like she might bite.
I can't help but think that opening the crystal isn't much of a surprise when the picture shows everything that's inside it.
Izzy comes with lots of little things. The buttons to stick in her hat are a cute idea.
Izzy has molded hair rather than brushable hair. Though this is not novel to the series, G5 is generous in giving its releases molded hair.
You can also see that her eyes are printed on with a grainy quality.
Enjoy your little picnic...
I definitely think Izzy is much cuter than the 3" brushable ponies (though I think Izzy has the best design anyway).
The molded hair helps to hide the awkward head shape and long neck.
Her articulated legs also make the unusual body design look less smooth and strange.
There are a few other Izzys, including one that comes with pom-poms used to make little creatures.
For some reason, that is the only Izzy to have painted on hooves.
Nostalgia tells me that it's sad for MLP to move away from brushables, but I do think that this molded hair release looks much better than her brushable companions.
Sunny and Pipp's molded hair releases also seem cuter than their brushable releases.
Some of the pegasus ponies with molded hair also have big articulated wings which look cool, and much better than the folded up wings on the nonarticulated releases.
The 6" ponies also look cute, but that's not something I'm interested in buying.
Overall, I think Izzy is cute. I like her big hat.
What I would like to see next are more toyline-original characters, background characters from the movie/cartoon (I have never seen the cartoon), and unique molds.
Hopefully the G5 toyline pulls through with more good releases.
