Alicorn Babies (Ja Ru)

October 15, 2022.

Both of these ponies were made by Ja Ru, an American toy company that makes toys that I can only really describe as "novelties".
They're two tiny alicorn ponies with little wings and horns.

They're similar sizes, with similar proportions. The pink pony is noticeably more round all over, and the blue pony seems to borrow some G4 pony shapes.
They use similar eye stamps, but the pink pony's eye has an angular inside corner, and the blue pony's eyes seem to have some layering error and the white of the eye is applied over the black outlines of the lids.

The pink pony has a big, round head, stubby legs with molded hoof lines, and a downward-sloping back. It has a deep, robust torso.
It has vibrant blue hair and a bright pink body.
The only proof I could find of this toy being created by Ja Ru was a Singaporean Amazon listing where they are described as such. They are branded as "One Love" "unicorn mini" ponies. The ponies in the listing images, though, had a big Ja Ru stamp on their necks. Since companies sometimes share molds, it is possible that the very pony I found is not a Ja Ru production.

The vivid blue pony takes notes from the licensed MLP toyline, with a headshape not unlike those of G4 ponies. Its body, too, takes inspiration from the G4 body plan, but diverges from the looks of an official MLP baby. It has short, tube-shaped legs, a short neck, and excess extruded plastic around its jaw.
The pony is front-heavy and frequently falls over onto its face when placed down.

Both ponies are, arguably, pretty cute, and have surprisingly nice feeling hair. Their bodies are made from soft but sturdy plastic. They may have come included in a set (as many fakies do), but were both found individually. They make a cute pair.
