Chap Mei Unicorns

November 2, 2022.

These beautiful little guys were purchased second-hand directly from a collector! Sold under names like "Cutie Pony," or "Sweet Pony," these unicorns were produced by a company called Chap Mei, a brand that focuses on making action figures and roleplay toys. However, in the past, they made a pretty decent run of ponies-- Unicorns, pegasi, and small ponies, with signature molded bangs or entire manes made of hard plastic.

Both ponies are around the size of a G2 pony. Their legs are slender with details to show their joints, and they wear shoes or bracelets that are sculpted on around their ankles. They have sculpted bangs and horns placed high on their head, between their ears. Their eyes are carefully painted with nice detail. They both wear necklaces made out of colorful, shiny plastic, molded to have a big jewel in the middle.

They're worse for wear, but that's not unexpected. From what I can tell, they're older ponies, probably from the 90s. Even after some dedicated cleaning and soaking, the stains and marks did not come off of them. They've had exciting lives, surely. I like their relatively grounded color schemes, the warm tones have a more naturalistic fantasy look than most plastic ponies have. Chap Mei unicorns do, of course, come in bright, unnatural colors, but I haven't gotten my hands on any of them. They're nice quality, as far as fakies go, made from smooth, dense plastic. The hair quality is far from the worst I've felt.

These ponies are pretty! Their detailed sculpts are nice, and some even have painted hooves. There are fakies of these fakies floating around, so it appears they are quite well liked.
