Not every brushable horse toy is trying to be MLP, some brushable horses are just brushable horses. Wild Manes, in my opinion, are not trying to be MLP, but it is near impossible for any brushable horse-doll to escape the influence of those famous Little Ponies. Wild Manes is a new Jakks Pacific toyline that has started appearing on store shelves and online retailers' websites in fall of 2024.
This horse is called Lana, who is apparently a baker. She has a dark brown coat, yellow eyes lined with pink eyeshadow, blonde-ish hair with hot pink streaks, and wears a little capelet. She has cute blunt bangs that brush her eyebrows. Her muzzle is subtly airbrushed a darker color.
Wild Manes horses have 4 legs that are articulated at the shoulder and 1 leg that has a knee and ankle joint. This makes it possible for the horse to do a couple of poses, while remaining stable enough to stand. As is, it can be a little difficult to balance them when their joints are not arranged perfectly. I do like the look of the leg sculpts and like that she has painted hooves.
She comes with various donut shop-themed accessories, as well as a brush that has a donut design on the back, earmuffs, and two horseshoe shaped clips that can be attached to a horse's leg to allow her to hold objects.
I've actually had another character, Tilly, for a while. I found her at a Target store a month or so ago. She had a tennis-themed outfit and accessories that I did not very much care for. Now having seen Lana, I notice that Tilly's hooves are unpainted. She does, however, have a cute airbrushed light spot on her muzzle. Her hair is a very vibrant yellow color with blue-lavender stripes. Her mane holds a loose curl.
These horses are kind of gorgeous. Their hair is very high quality-- it feels soft, and the color is very vibrant. They feel solid, they're poseable, and most of all, they are cute!! I'm looking forward to more Wild Manes!
