Curly Spider

October 15, 2023.

I call this spider "curly" because it came home from the store with its legs curled up underneath it. It's another Target spider, and looks similar to the Ticklike Spider.

The Curly Spider has eight noodly legs that curl upwards at the feet. Along each leg, there are two tufts of grey fur. The spider also has a grey mane of fur behind its piercing orange eyes. It has mouthparts made of shiny black plastic protruding from the front of its face. There are some bits of glitter in its skin, dispersed throughout the thin black fabric that covers its body. It has a body shape remniscent of the Ticklike Spider, lacking a distinct delineation between its abdomen and head. Based on their appearances, the two spiders could belong to related species. The Curly Spider does, however, have a great legspan of 50 inches from toe to toe, making it much larger than its relative. Such a big spider is a good ally to have.
