Target Spider RE-VIEW: These Spiders Must Go!

November 6, 2024.

A second pass at Target. I knew it must be done. After several instances of checking the shelves during the Halloween season, I became frustrated by the absence of spiders. I hoped that spiders were so popular that none remained! On the day after Halloween, though, I ran into some friendly spider-faces.

The clearance spider-selection consisted of large pink spiders and white spiders, nearly identical to the Curly Spider from last year. Their legs, too, are curled up neatly, in the same way that the spindly appendages attached to the Curly Spider were. As I predicted, Target continued the ticklike spider family tree into 2024.

At the half-off price tag of $5, it was impossible to resist the song of the strange albino spider. Though hot pink is also a really good choice of color for a spider, something about the weird, haggard look of the white spider spoke to me. It has white skin and white fur covering its nape. Like the curly spider, it also has furry tufts on its legs.

It lacks the hard plastic mouthparts that the curly spider has. At first, I thought it may have lost them, as there appear to be bumps on the spider's face where something could be attached. Upon reviewing the picture of the pink and white spiders together, though, I noticed the pink spider also lacks any mouthparts. Hopefully they have some way to eat. White rings encircle its amber eyes, giving it the appearance of eyebags. The bedraggled mane suggests, to me, at least, that this is some kind of abominable snow-spider, but that could just be my imagination...
